The governor is appropriated annually a sum to be used for the contingent expenses of the executive department and for enhanced law enforcement in Alabama (Ala. Code, Chapter 25, Article 1, Section 777 [1923]). This series consists of records documenting the expenditure of contingency funds for law enforcement purposes. Typical records in this series include warrants, invoices, itemizations of expenses, copies of receipts, signed affidavits from claimees, related correspondence, and letters from the governor requesting payment of funds. Examples of funds expenditures include: travel expenses for criminal case witnesses, expenses incurred during extradition procedures, narcotics control activities, and the purchase of narcotics during these activities.
